Music

Music has a high profile in the life of the school. The programme of studies offered includes Leaving Certificate, Junior Certificate & Transition year. At all levels the pupils follow a comprehensive course in music and playing, reading, listening & performing. The music department makes extensive use of technology to assist pupils to explore & extend their music capabilities. Each year TY students perform a show case for parents.

There is a ‘special choir’ that performs regularly at school and other events e.g. masses, carol service, graduations & choral competitions. The choir won 1st prize in the 2007 choral competition at Wesley College.

The pupils are encouraged to participate in many musical activities both inside & outside the classroom to foster an even greater appreciation of music. They visit & participate in workshops & attend performances throughout the year. Every alternate year a school concert is performed which includes pupils from all years. As a result of this they explore their own talents & abilities and can be expected to take on responsibility for themselves and their future.
