Basketball has been hugely successful in Loreto Swords recently. The school has 4 teams that play across two leagues. A first-year team, a second-year team, a cadette and senior team also. The two leagues we play in are the Loreto League, and the Dublin Schools Basketball League. Our Senior team made it to the semifinals of both leagues and narrowly missed out on reaching the final. Our Cadette team won the Loreto B League this year in Alsaa.
The big success this year and a first for Loreto swords was the first-year team winning the final of the Dublin Schools League who will now go on to play in the Leinster’s. The teams are managed by volunteer parent coaches whom without them basketball wouldn’t be the same within the school. Their dedication is what makes the students so willing to turn up to training and give their all on the court. They are also supported by some of the teachers within the school.
